Looking For Something?

Hi from our Philly farmers market 🌤🌱 We’re still market-ing, meal prepping & planning, etc., and I’ve lapsed on posting for lots of reasons. Oops! But, I HAD to share this haul from a beautiful, long morning at the market 😍 Today we said “bye for now” to our friend Alyssa, who is moving into a new position with @thefoodtrust. She’s been the Fitler Square Market Manager for a while. She always shares the kind of kindness I wish for Calvin, and has been a wonderful part of our Saturday morning. The people we see there make the market a very important part of our week. We’ll miss her 😊
Last Sunday dinner wasn’t a looker, but turned out so well. Another riff on the @alisoneroman Paprika chicken, plus maple roasted Brussels sprouts, roasted mushrooms and fried faro dressed with the chicken drippings. We had a big salad afterward. Calvin seemed to enjoy dipping his spinach leaves in white balsamic vinegar like a totally normal child.
Last Saturday was a really super morning for the market 🌤 Calvin picked out a whoopee pie for a snack later in the day, and I’m looking forward to using the black garlic gouda, but I’m not sure for what (suggestions?)
A few weeks ago, my wife told me that “the bacon you cook is weak,” meaning the no sugar added low sodium turkey bacon which admittedly IS awful. So while she was one one night I dropped some real maplewood bacon and used the fat to fry up both the potatoes and eggs. Calvin’s been enjoying Cholula recently, it’s pretty funny to watch him sweat while he’s eating 😆
Some lunches are just destined to be more popular than others. Adding bacon usually helps. ——-|——-|——- -Bacon 🥓 -Chickpeas & Rice -Roasted potatoes -Apricots -Banana 🍌
Another NO frills dinner: scrambled eggs and @drpraegers four potato hash browns. Calvin has been interested in other sauces than ketchup, so BBQ sauce has been making its way into the rotation.
Calvin is STILL on his apple kick from weeks ago, with little sign of abating. I've successfully incorporated pears as an alternate, but the offer of an apple is almost always met with a yes. ——-|——-|——- -@babybelus cheese 🧀 -Leftover mac & cheese -Grapes 🍇 -Peas -Apples 🍏
Chickpeas and white rice was about the easiest weeknight dinner I’ve done in a while. Calvin ate ALL of this, and asked for seconds. The sauce was from @rupenrao, Rupen’s Makhani Simmer Sauce. It was SO good!
